EXPERIENCE

Biology. Technology. Craft.

2025
  • Wearable Prototyping: Designed and assembled a wearable EEG headset, optimizing ergonomics and sensor contact using custom conductive elastomers via human usability assessment. Iterated over 18 design cycles to achieve a functional, aesthetic, and user-friendly device as earbuds and a conductive elastomer formable porous foam.
  • Test Fixture Design: Fabricated an anatomically accurate adult-sized phantom head using open-source anatomical data to validate device system performance, simulating neural signals and measuring tES stimulation output (Bidirectional Model) for consistent bench-testing of electrode performance.
  • System Integration: Developed an end-to-end data pipeline linking signal acquisition hardware to Python-based classification models (SVM, Random Forest), enabling a closed-loop BCI framework for cognitive state assessment and intervention.
  • Signal Processing & ML: Performed signal recordings and system set-up for in-house real-time human experiments. Analyzed collected data using Python for pre-processing, filtering, labeling, and segmenting. Developed cognitive status classification algorithms using Random Forest (RF) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) frameworks.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Composed ethics application, experiment proposals, and associated documents adhering to Imperial research ethics committee (REC) regulations and UK GDPR. Managed participants and data using Data Asset Registration Tool (DART) and Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) protocols.
2024
  • Visual Cognition & Behavioral Analysis: Designed and conducted experiments on zebrafish visual cognition, cross-breeding selectives to produce transparent larvae optimized for two-photon imaging and monitoring embryo development conditions.
  • Optogenetic Stimulation: Recorded behavioral responses to optogenetic stimulation in live zebrafish specimens, utilizing Python for data analysis and parameter modification to hypothesize associations between neurological patterns and behavioral responses.
  • Custom Apparatus Design: Designed and fabricated experimental setups including fluidic environmental chambers for live biological specimens using CAD (SolidWorks, FreeCAD) and SLA printing. Engineered a magnetic quick-swap mechanism for rapid screen replacement while maintaining water-tight integrity, iterating on design for improved workflow and imaging clarity.
2023
  • Strategic Vision & Leadership: Analyzed market trends and competitor products to assess feasibility and inform strategic product decisions. Engaged in informal discussions with potential investors and collaborated with London & Partners to connect with legal advisors and stakeholders.
  • Electro-Mechanical Integration: Led the mechanical design and early-stage prototype validation of handheld rehabilitation devices, integrating PCBs, batteries, and haptics into ergonomic housings.
  • Global Operations: Liaised between stakeholders in USA, UK, and China; coordinated supply chain logistics and manufacturing requirements in English and Mandarin, driving 2-3x cost reduction per unit.
  • Product Strategy: Conducted market analysis to define product requirements, translating concepts into precise technical specifications for external manufacturers. Developed over 20 iterations of pre-launch products, collaborating with physiotherapy and occupational therapy experts to refine ergonomic and functional specifications.
  • Intellectual Property: Engaged with patent attorneys at IP Note and legal consultancies via London & Partners, planning to file patent applications to protect proprietary innovations.
2022
  • Neural Differentiation Research: Investigated the efficacy of 2D silicon dioxide nanomatrices in enhancing proliferation and differentiation of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADMSCs) into the neural lineage, evaluating proliferation effects using EdU Assay.
  • Primary Cell Culture: Performed primary cell extraction from adipose tissue, maintained cell line cultures, executed cryopreservation protocols, and cultivated stem cells on nanomatrices of varying topological configurations.
  • Morphological Analysis: Observed and documented neural characteristics including increased neural markers, reduced cell spreading area, and elongated cellular extensions under varying matrix conditions.
  • Media Optimization: Tested and adjusted differentiation media compositions to enhance neural differentiation outcomes, with hypothesized enhanced differentiation characterized by hyperexpression of actin filament.
  • Data Quantification: Quantified results through immunocytochemistry staining and analyzed data using ImageJ and Prism software for statistical validation.
2019
  • International Partnerships: Collaborated with Tefa International and other vendors to develop wooden handicrafts for display and retail, translating design briefs into fabrication-ready specifications.
  • Precision Fabrication: Utilized hand drills, power drills, saws, and clippers alongside manual machining techniques to create display-quality bespoke furniture and installations with high-tolerance finishing.
  • Venue Installations: Managed on-site assembly and installation at major venues including book fairs, Tai Kwun, PMQ, Xiqu Centre, and private art galleries. Employed high-pressure air guns, laser leveling tools, and industrial-grade adhesives for precise assembly and placement, often working evenings and overnight.
  • Quality Control: Verified assembly and alignment using calipers and angle measures to ensure all pieces met design specifications before delivery.
